I’m a weather enthusiast who likes to write.

Background

I inherited the weather gene from my dad, a retired weather forecaster with many accolades, though I’m not sure where my entrepreneurial skills came from. I’m an avid bodyboarder and accomplished waterwoman, life-long naturalist, dog and cat mom, enjoy backpacking, and just about anything outdoors. That’s why I decided to bring it all together and live aboard my boat—combining my skills, my love of teaching, and my passion for self-sufficient life on the water. Two of my biggest goals are to live sustainably and to share real, practical knowledge about weather, safety, and life at anchor and while underway.

A bit more background: I was a winner in the second Red Bull Project Swell surf forecasting contest, and I’m currently working toward Penn State’s Weather Forecasting certificate. I also completed the Marine Tech program at Cape Fear Community College and completed the Captain’s Course at CFCC. Credentials matter—especially when I’ll be delivering weather forecasts from the boat. Above all, safety is non-negotiable in everything I do.

“We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”
Henry David Thoreau
